Connective Tissue and Associated Conditions
This two hour and 15 minutes workshop looks at the structure and function of connective tissue. We look at the different types of connective tissue in the body and take a look at what happens to the connective tissue in dysfunction.
Once a clear understanding of the structure of connective tissue is established with focus on connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility. We take a look at the different classifications of EDS and how it potentially presents itself. We also discover that EDS does not just affect the joints but many other systems within the body such as the cardiovascular system.
Lastly, we focus on how and what to teach clients with EDS and hypermobility, in particular, cueing techniques and exercise programme in order to build strength and stamina without tiring the client. EDS is often left undiagnosed and an understanding of it, may potentially help your clients not only build their strength but also reduce their pain. This workshop is a must for anyone dealing with hypermobility or EDS.
